Passing on something I saw on Red Flag Deals this morning, via the iPhone in Canada blog—two unadvertised plans from Koodo Mobile. It’s a somewhat sad sign of the times that these qualify as “deals”, but here they are nonetheless:
- 100 Canada-wide daytime minutes
- Unlimited evenings after 5pm and weekends
- Unlimited SMS
- Call display
- 2GB of data
Price: $54/month – $48.60 after BYOD discount.
- “All-in” plan with unlimited minutes, SMS, etc.
- 5GB of data
Price: $94/month – $84.60 after BYOD discount.
These plans are not listed on Koodo’s site, and are only available in person at a kiosk or by calling in. According to iPhone in Canada the cheaper plan matches a promo from Virgin—$29/month plus a 2GB data option for $25. I’ll take their word for it.
What’s not clear is what Koodo will charge for going over your allotted minutes or data. Data overages could be anywhere from $20 to $50/GB, a far cry from the already-expensive $10/GB rate that was the norm before the wireless auction earlier this year.
Still, these “deals” are arguably better than what’s currently available from Koodo, but I would of course be remiss if I didn’t mention the quasi-legal $55 SK/MB plan that most forum members using Koodo are probably on. In fact, there’s more than one mention of our humble forums on the RFD thread—and now the virtuous circle of links is complete. 😉
If anyone has thoughts or more details about either of these plans, kindly share them here!
